You would expect a game like Football Manager 2023 to have very minimal requirements, and it does. Here are the specs recommended by the developers.
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- Operating System: Windows 7
- Processor: Intel Core 2 or AMD Athlon 64 X2
- Memory: 4 GB RAM
- Graphics: Intel GMA X4500, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT, AMD/ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650
- DirectX: version 11
- Storage: 7 GB of available space
You would have to go out of your way to find a system that cannot run this game these days. Intel Core 2 processors were popular in the 2000s and cannot compare to modern processors at all.
Now, to be clear, any modern CPU will be able to run Football Manager 2023. feel like you should get the cheapest processor you can get, which would probably be an Intel Pentium or Celeron.

However, I recommend going a little further above the absolute minimum. Everyday computing tasks have become more and more CPU-intensive lately, and they will continue to be more demanding on your processor in the years to come.
By spending a little more than the bare minimum, you can get yourself a processor that can not only run Football Manager 2023 but also serve you well in the various other tasks that you are likely to use your computer for. If you are a gamer, Football Manager 2023 is not the only game you will play.
I recommend going with an Intel Core i3 12100 processor. We recommend the 12th Gen in particular, as the 9th Gen Core i3s and below only have 4 threads, and the 11th Gen and above only offer no significant improvement over 12100. Here is a more detailed explanation.
The i3-12100 is a quad-core processor with hyperthreading enabled, meaning it has 4 cores and 8 threads. It can boost up to a turbo frequency of 4.3 GHz. Although that’s below the current average, it’s fine for entry-level gaming.
The i3-12100 has a TDP of 60 watts, for which you won’t need a spare cooler, and it consumes very little power.
The processor is also equipped with an Intel UHD Graphics 730 iGPU, which – surprisingly enough – can run Football Manager 2023 just fine. Although, if you intend to play other games, it would still be better to pair the 10100 with something like a super GTX 1650 or, at most, an RTX 3050.
Overall, the Intel i3-12100 is somewhat of a dormant choice when it comes to entry-level gaming. It has excellent value for money and you can find it today for almost $100 on online retailers.
