If you want to take a business class trip to Honolulu and earn Delta MQDs without breaking the bank, we have something you might be interested in. But it’s a little out of the ordinary when it comes to our usual mileage runs. Oh, and that’s about 3.6 times the Delta MQD of the ticket price!

This Aeromexico business class trip travels from Tijuana, Mexico (TIJ) to Mexico City (MEX) to Los Angeles (LAX) to Honolulu (HNL) and back a few days later. You can spend about four full days in Hawaii. (Or start another mileage run from there! Ask dot.me for help and ideas!)

Tijuana? ! you can say. How can I get there?! And no question that I go to this city!

First, it is approximately 23 miles from San Diego International Airport to the Cross Border Express pedestrian bridge that takes you to Tijuana Airport. (You don’t need to enter the streets of Tijuana. Just the airport.) Lyft prices from SAN to CBX ranged from $40 to $60 when I checked while writing this post. You clear immigration at CBX and do not need to deal with it in Mexico City. (But you cross over to the US side when you arrive in Los Angeles from MEX.)

The trip costs US$1,221.31. Flight and layover times are a bit meh in some cases. But it’s a very good price, especially for the MQD return. (And you have plenty of time in LA to walk to the In-N-Out Burger for a good but overpriced burger.)

ITA Matrix estimates the trip will be 11,064 miles. Due to the way Delta credits MQDs when it comes to travel on its partner airlines WHEN YOU CREDIT THEM TO YOUR DELTA SKYMILES NUMBER (that’s literally the point! 🙂 ), you should earn approximately $4425 MQD. (That’s an MQD return of 3.62 times your investment!) The unofficial SkyMiles calculator says you should also be carrying around 16,616 MQMs (7.4CPM). Finally you should win 22,152 redeemable SkyMiles – before any applicable Medallion bonuses.

I see the April 12 date available – and a bunch early May with various options as to how long you can stay.

Long-haul flights will be on board Delta’s new A321neo.

You are on the flight as a passenger with an Aeromexico ticket. Delta simply exploits the jump. You should have access to Sky Club, given that you are traveling on a confirmed international route in business class.
