HYTE Y40 ATX Mid-Tower Case Review

Summary

We have here in our hands today their S-Tier Aesthetic Mid Tower ATX Y40 case. It features multi-dimensional design, gigantic vertical graphics support, deluxe PCIE 4.0 riser cable and 2 pre-installed 120mm fans for $149.99. Once you took it out of the box, the first thing I noticed was how clean and flush the 2 piece panoramic glass around the case was. At first glance, you might wonder if it’s meant to come off or not, but it comes off easily with the help of a magnet system. I think in most cases for builders it would be love at first sight once the Y40 is out of the box. In the Y40 box you will find one PCIE 4.0 Deluxe Riser Cable which allows you to mount your board vertically. Expect to find all of your basic USB, USB-C, and audio ports on the front panel near the bottom of the case. Yeah, that case is super awesome… What makes the HYTE Y40 even tougher? It only costs $149.99!

HYTE, the sister brand of the popular custom gaming PC maker, is showcasing its 2023 lineup this year at CES. HYTE specializes in pushing the boundaries of computing hardware with effortlessly interactive products designed to change the way you think about gaming PCs. Here we have in our hands today their S-Tier Aesthetic Mid Tower ATX case Y40. It features multi-dimensional design, gigantic vertical graphics support, deluxe PCIE 4.0 riser cable and 2 pre-installed 120mm fans for $149.99.

I think in most cases for builders it would be love at first sight once the Y40 is out of the box. The reps must have done their research and read some of my reviews knowing they were sending us the black version. I’m absolutely in love with the black smoked glass, it’s so clean. HYTE designed this case to be right handed at the time of this review, there is no option to rotate which side the glass is on. In order to get the maximum viewing experience from the Y40, it will need to be in front of you less than 90 degrees to the right. It’s not a big deal, but it’s definitely something you need to know if you’re building a battle station from scratch.

Once you took it out of the box, the first thing I noticed was how clean and flush the 2 piece panoramic glass around the case was. At first glance, you might wonder if it’s meant to come off or not, but it comes off easily with the help of a magnet system. This seems to be HYTE’s design theme with top and side panels equally capable of snapping on and off easily while remaining screwless. The back and top panels are designed with airflow vents backed by a black mesh screen to catch dust. You will find ventilation on the bottom panel as well as 2 removable black mesh dust collectors. Finally, an intake fan under the PSU shroud to keep this case cool as a cucumber.

Graphics cards are getting massive by the day and I’m specifically talking about the infamous RTX 4090. It’s literally a hand cannon! In the Y40 box you will find one PCIE 4.0 Deluxe Riser Cable which allows you to mount your board vertically. What I like the most about this system is the back panel design. It has 4 vertical slots for GPUs, which leaves plenty of room to insert an Nvidia RTX 4090, but you also have 7 horizontal slots that sit behind the GPU for extras like capture cards. It is a very efficient system for cable management. Space is a bit tight, but we’re talking mid-tower size here.

Expect to find all of your basic USB, USB-C, and audio ports on the front panel near the bottom of the case. The Y40 also comes with 2 pre-installed 120mm fans, one under the floor and one at the rear. The side bracket supports up to a 280mm radiator with a combined thickness of up to 120mm, compatible with large 60mm+ radiators or custom loop setups. Its top bracket can support a radiator up to 360mm for dual radiator builds.

Yeah, that case is super awesome… What makes the HYTE Y40 even tougher? It only costs $149.99! Even for beginners it is very easy to use and the results will speak for themselves once your build is complete. You will be one of those people who drop their setup on Instagram and get all the likes. All the numbers work for me here considering them as a whole, the price, design, looks and ease of use make sense. I would consider this case carefully before starting your next build.
