by state of florida The 2023 football schedule was released on Monday evening. The Seminoles are coming off a successful 10-3 campaign in the 2022 season and are looking to take the next step as they enter their fourth year under head coach Mike Norvell.
“There is tremendous internal and external excitement for this season,” head coach Mike Norvell said in a statement. “The ACC’s new schedule model and the elimination of divisions are creating exciting matchups and bringing new teams to our schedule, which is great for our student-athletes and our fans. Our team had a terrific week in Orlando for the bowling game, and we can’t wait to get back there for what will probably be the most anticipated game of Labor Day weekend. Playing eight games in our home country is another great part of our team, and we can’t wait to be back in front of the best fans in the country as we continue our climb to the top of college football.

The 2023 season marks the first year the ACC will be without the Atlantic and Coastal divisions in its new model. FSU’s top three partners are Miami, Syracuse and Clemson in the new 3-5-5 model. Each team will play three main opponents per year and play the other 10 teams in the league twice during a four-year cycle, once at home and once on the road. All 14 schools will now compete in a single division. The top two teams by conference winning percentage will advance to the ACC Championship Game.
FSU will open the season by hosting USL at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida on Sunday, September 3. FSU is 8-2 against LSU. The Seminoles defeated the Tigers (24-23) at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana in the 2022 season. The two teams last met in the Sunshine State in 1990, with FSU winning (42-3).
Coming off their neutral site game with LSU and in a short week, FSU will return to Tallahassee for their home opener against Miss South Saturday, September 9. FSU is 14-8-1 against the Golden Eagles. The two teams last met in 2017, with FSU defeating Southern Miss (42-13) at the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana. The last Miss of the South traveled to Tallahassee in 1996, with FSU winning that game (54-14).
The middle eight games of the FSU schedule are all against ACC opponents. FSU will host Duke, Miami, Syracuse, and Virginia Techon a journey to face Boston College, Clemson, Pitt, and WakeForest. Those eight games take place over a nine-week span, with FSU’s bye week mixed in.
FSU will travel to Boston College on September 16 for the third time in the last four meetings between the two teams. FSU is 15-5 against British Columbia. The Seminoles hosted the Eagles in 2022 and defeated them (44-14). The two previous meetings, 2021 (26-23) and 2019 (38-31) were victories for the FSU at the alumni stage.
FSU will look to end a seven-game losing streak to Clemson this season when they travel to Death Valley in Clemson, SC on September 23. The Seminoles still hold a 20-15 advantage in the series. FSU last won in 2014 (23-17) and last won at Clemson in 2013 (51-14).
FSU will have its week off the weekend of September 30.
FSU will host Virginia Tech October 7, which will be the family weekend. The Seminoles are 23-13-1 against the Hokies all-time. FSU last hosted VT for the opener of the 2018 season, losing to the Hokies (24-3).
FSU will meet Syracuse for the 16th time in program history on October 14. The Seminoles are 13-2 in their 15 previous meetings with Syracuse. The Seminoles have won the last three meetings, including one victory (38-3) last season at Syracuse and a win (33-30) in Tallahassee during the 2021 season.
The Seminoles face duke for the 22nd time in program history when they welcome them to Tallahassee on the weekend of October 21 for Homecoming. FSU is 21-0 against the Blue Devils. The two teams met for the last time in 2020, in Tallahassee, with the victory of the FSU (56-35).
FSU will play at WakeForest for the third time in their last four meetings when they face them on October 28. The Seminoles are 30-9-1 against the Demon Deacons but have lost the last three meetings. FSU last won against Wake Forest at home in 2018 (38-17) and at Wake Forest in 2017 (26-19).
FSU will travel to pitt for the first time in a decade to open their final month of play on November 4. FSU is 4-6 all-time against Pitt. The Seminoles and Panthers last met in Pittsburgh in the 2013 season, with FSU winning (41-13). The two teams have only met once since that game, in 2020 when FSU hosted and lost to the Panthers (41-17).
FSU continues its annual rivalry with Miami in their final ACC game of the season on Nov. 11. FSU trails UM, 35-32, in the all-time series. The Seminoles have won the last two meetings, including a victory (45-3) in Miami in the 2022 season and a victory (31-28) in Tallahassee in the 2021 season.
The season will end with FSU hosting North Alabama Saturday, November 18. This is the first ever meeting between the two teams.
FSU will then travel to face Florida Saturday, November 25. FSU is 27-37-2 against UF. The Seminoles beat the Gators (45-38) in the 2022 season. FSU lost in their last trip to Gainesville in 2021 (24-21).
