by Microsoft has announced that it will soon remove several games and DLC packs from the Xbox 360 marketplace, including games such as The Witcher 2, Far Cry 2, various Assassin’s Creed games, and more.
According to an update posted on the Xbox Support website, Microsoft says it will be removing several games and their associated DLC packs from the Xbox 360 Marketplace in certain regions starting February 7, 2023.
“A number of game titles and related add-ons will be removed from the Xbox 360 marketplace in a select set of regions per title. These removals will begin on February 7, 2023,” the message reads. “Once purchased, you can always redownload these or any previously purchased games from your Xbox 360 download history.”
Since Microsoft only mentioned the Xbox 360 Marketplace in its statement, it would seem that most of these backward compatible games can still be purchased from the standard Xbox Store, assuming they were imported. We hope Microsoft will clarify this.
